She completed her Bachelor's, Master's, and MPhil in Sanskrit from the University of Madras and taught Sanskrit to high school students in Chennai before arriving in US in 1988. She continued to teach Sanskrit in the Washington DC area through the Chinmaya Mission, trained under Swamy Chinmayananda. She also pursued Carnatic music, singing for dance performances, and composing Sanskrit compositions
In 2003, she moved to the Chicago area where she continues to teach Sanskrit at Chinmaya Mission, Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago, Samskrta Bharati, and to both children and adults.
